What we do

Phosphorix design, develop, implement, support, host and manage web based software systems.

We provide a refreshing agile approach to software development services and system implementation. We deliver software or web solutions for you and for your customers requirements.

Phosphorix offer the services of a highly experienced and versatile technology team. The team specialise in open standards and open source systems for the internet. This means we build web sites, web software, web services and web applications using open development techniques. This also means our software can be acquired royalty free. Please refer to our open source statement for more details. Phosphorix provide a full range of commercial information technology services for a wide variety of open source software. Subject to license we can develop and build from your prefered software.

In addition to open source, we also develop proprietary languages and support systems for well known commercial solutions like; Microsoft, Sun, Apple etc (apologies to the other "big" names we never mentioned). These larger than Phosphorix companies also advocate open standards. We have vast experience of their desktops, software languages and differences.

What does this mean to our clients, partners or prospective clients?

Put simply, we know the pros and cons of the bigger systems, how this effects end users and how to handle the challenges of interoperability, compatibility, accessibility, compliance and above all "usability".

We will get your projects and ideas for web, intranet, extranet, moving quickly.

Whether your challenge is of; dynamic data, business reporting, e-learning systems, advertising systems, search engines, messaging framework or a simple contact centric web site, the team at Phosphorix will treat your challenge with the same vigour. We have developed solutions for Vodafone, such as a Global Marketing Intranet for a group of twenty four Vodafone companies as well as smaller projects such as Ide Primary School's web site for parents, teachers and pupils. Over the past five years we have served a wide range of research and development projects in further and higher education, with a particular focus on "lifelong learning" and interoperability standards. These projects currently have over 250 different direct stake holder institutions in outcomes such as "CourseExchange", "ioPortal" and "ioNetworkNode".

We contribute to emerging standards, such as XCRI.

We participate in special interest groups, particularly in the telecoms and education sector. We are genuinely passionate about what we do.

So what do we do exactly?

First of all we take the time to get to know your problems, your unique requirements, the challenges... we call this a discovery phase. Its a creative challenge and we love this challenge. We are renowned amongst our many projects and customers for our ability in this area. Next, we rapidly prototype solutions, this could be paper based, a dummy web system or if appropriate an extended implementation of real software. Our experience has proven time and time again, this has a big impact, the most important point is you see what your going to get early enough to change things until its exactly what you get.

So, we then are working with you iteratively until your happy that the prototype meets your needs for a production system.

Depending on the nature of your project, we then go into different stages of testing or in some cases your work could be complete and production ready following your acceptance and sign off.

If we are not done together then at this stage Phosphorix can host, maintain or remotely manage your production solution. If you prefer, we can smooth change by training your suppliers or staff to do this for you.

We advocate open standards, particularly for things like accessibility. We also advocate user led development models and welcome the opportunity where appropriate to work with your target end users in the design process and the testing processes.

Phosphorix have products which can be quickly put together to save you money and time. Indeed some of our software is open source and completely free, your welcome to take it. We only ask those that do take our free open source software that in return you commit improvements / enhancements back to us and the community of other organisations developing it. This is known as open development and it is the foundation for the WWW.
